IT and Online Support

Our Learning Support and IT teams provide support to all students and staff of Toi Ohomai | Te Pūkenga - a total of more than 15,000 people!

Together they can help you with computer related issues, faults, support, and questions.

All our students receive a free, institution email account through Microsoft Office 365, internet access and online file storage and depending on course requirements, may be provided with access to specialist software packages, and printing.

Internet and Wireless

We operate a FREE fair usage policy for our wi-fi so unless you have excessive use and downloads, you can use your own device to access the internet on campus.

IT Support for Learners

There's always something new to learn in the digital world. We have skilled facilitators who can help students to develop generic (not content specific) IT skills.

We Can Help With

  • Organising in-class workshops/deliveries
  • Face to face appointments, small group sessions with students
  • Use of common software (e.g. Moodle, Google suite, Microsoft Office)
  • Support students remotely with video conferencing technology (includes IT support)

Look for our Student Success Resource page for more information, and to access a range of student-facing self-help IT guides.

Moodle (Learning Management System)

Moodle is our online, one-stop student learning shop. It’s an integral part of many courses, making information and materials like readings and course notes available to you online.

Online services available to all students:

  • Microsoft Security Essentials. We recommend you download this free virus protection for your personal devices.
  • OneDrive - 1TB online storage – this is accessed from your student email account
  • Microsoft Office is free for all current students. You must have access to your student email account.

Office 365

Thanks to our agreement with Microsoft, all Toi Ohomai | Te Pūkenga students can sign up for their own version of Office 365 ProPlus.

Office 365 ProPlus and OneDrive give you cloud-based productivity tools that help you collaborate more efficiently, work with classmates on shared documents, access assignments from virtually anywhere, have your notes synchronized in OneNote and use familiar applications like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel anywhere, any time across virtually any device.

As long as you're a student here and the course continues, you'll be able to use this software for free.
