Ākonga Māori me ngā Ākonga o Te Moana Nui a Kiwa | Māori and Pacific Learners

Ngaro atu he tētēkura, whakaeke mai he tētēkura.
When one chief disappears, another is ready to appear.

He aha ā mātou mahi? / What do we do?

The kaupapa of our Ākonga Kaikōkiri is to ensure Māori and Pacific ākonga (learners) feel welcomed and are enabled to succeed and thrive in their life and learning at Toi Ohomai.

Ākonga Kaikōkiri provide holistic, kaupapa Māori-based support, including:

  • Māori & Pasifika Trades Training (MPTT)
  • Pastoral care and support for personal and social needs
  • Financial support and scholarships
  • Mentoring and advocacy
  • Help navigating StudyLink, Fees Free, and other government organisations
  • Wānanga and events

Visit the team in Te Pūtake (Mokoia, next to Melting Pot Café), L02 (Poike/Windermere, behind the volleyball court), or when they travel to our campuses in Taupō, Tokoroa and Whakatāne.
