Dominic Linn

Back in 2021, a student arrived at Toi Ohomai’s Windermere Campus with a clear goal in mind: to become an automotive technician. That student was Dominic Linn.

After completing his New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Engineering (Level 3) at Toi Ohomai in 2021, Dom began his career at Davidson Automotive in Tauranga. He went on to complete his Level 4 qualification and became a qualified automotive technician.

However, Dom’s passion for the automotive industry extended well beyond the workshop. While working full-time as a technician, he spent many of his weekends travelling around New Zealand and working as a mechanic at racetracks. This gave him valuable experience in the fast-paced and demanding world of motorsport and helped him develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to take the next step in his career.

At just 23 years of age, Dom decided it was time to take a leap and see where his skills could take him.

That decision has now taken him to Silverstone in the United Kingdom, one of the most iconic locations in world motorsport and widely recognised as the home of British motor racing. Dom is now working as a mechanic for Hitech in the Eurocup-3 Championship.

Eurocup-3 is an important part of the international single-seater motorsport pathway. The championship provides a stepping stone for talented young drivers progressing from Formula 4 towards higher categories such as FIA Formula 3 and beyond. The series races at some of Europe’s most famous circuits and features high-performance Dallara single-seater race cars powered by 270-horsepower turbocharged engines.

For 2026, Hitech has entered Eurocup-3 for the first time, adding another level to an organisation that already competes across some of the world's leading junior motorsport categories, including FIA Formula 2, FIA Formula 3, Formula 4 and F1 Academy. Being part of a team such as Hitech gives Dom the opportunity to work alongside highly skilled motorsport professionals and be involved in the development and preparation of some of the next generation of international racing talent.

The team's hard work is already paying off. Following the recent Silverstone round, Hitech sits third in the Eurocup-3 Teams' Championship, competing against some of the strongest teams and young drivers in European motorsport.

One of the special traditions in motorsport is the opportunity for a winning driver to share the podium celebrations with a member of the team who helped make that success possible. For Dom, that meant being invited onto the podium to celebrate alongside the driver and the rest of the team.

From starting his automotive journey at Windermere as a Level 3 student at Toi Ohomai in 2021, to becoming a qualified technician, gaining experience at racetracks around New Zealand, and now working on the international motorsport stage at Silverstone, Dom’s journey is something to be incredibly proud of.
