Paddy has been part of the Environmental Management teaching team since 2002 and teaches the Biological Surveying courses, and also advises students on their research projects.
Paddy has many years experience carrying out various ecological and field surveys in New Zealand, including for the Department of Conservation, Regional Councils and industry.
He also specialises in bioacoustics and related technology to monitor cryptic and/or threatened species.
As part of his teaching, Paddy often leads students on multi-day field trips to various locations to ensure students are learning in a ‘real life’ environment, whilst also learning outdoor risk management and leadership skills.
