We're continually inspired by our students - read about some of their amazing journeys.
Erick is studying a Bachelor of Applied Management while working part-time in the retail sector in Rotorua. He chose Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology for his studies because the Mokoia campus in Rotorua is conveniently close to where he lives and works.
After six years working in the hospitality sector as a duty manager, Daniel Mulholland, became interested in seeking out a stable vocation with a clear career trajectory. He decided on accounting, because he enjoys analytics and is details-orientated.
Ethan Griffiths hopes his culinary skills will take him around the world. The Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology ākonga was one of three who recently represented the institute at the prestigious Nestle Golden Chef Hat competition and earned a bronze medal for his efforts.
We caught up with some music ākonga during NZ Music Month to hear their thoughts on the NZ music industry and their role within it. Elyanna Max Tuballa is one of our Diploma in Music students and not only sings, but also plays guitar and keyboard.
Te Miringa Arlidge has a whānau full of health professionals, so it’s no surprise she knew she wanted to help people. She is one of six recipients of this year’s Toi Ohomai Whakapumau Pae Tawhiti Scholarship and is in her final year of her Bachelor of Nursing.
Working with a welder in an automotive course sparked a passion within Josh Arnold, enabling him to realise a fulfilling career. As a Mount Maunganui College student Josh completed an automotive course through the Toi Ohomai Secondary Tertiary Programme.
Katarina Gutteridge is making waves in London's vibrant bakery scene after graduating from Toi Ohomai. From studying Toi Ohomai bakery courses to working in one of London’s award-winning bakeries, her journey is nothing short of inspiring.
Alex Croasdale-Saunders always had an interest in gardening, but has turned that pastime into a career, and is now helping train the next generation. Alex studied the Fruit Production for Profit course at Toi Ohomai and is now the operations manager on an orchard, mentoring a current employee.
Shaun Coxhead always had a passion for cars and hopes his career will enable him to travel the world. In 2018 Shaun enrolled in the Toi Ohomai Automotive Secondary Tertiary Programme and has since worked his way through multiple automotive qualifications.
Douglas Mitchell secured a job in his chosen field, which he says was only possible thanks to support from Toi Ohomai Careers Facilitators at our Windermere Campus. Doug was in his second-year studying Architecture Technology when he began his job hunt.
