Strategies for supporting Early Childhood Education ākonga - Mallory Tomsett
Mallory teaches on both the Bachelor and Masters programmes in ECE, and is especially interested in how students make the transition into higher education, and then into post-graduate studies. In recent research with colleagues in ECE and other Masters programmes at Toi Ohomai, Mallory has been an important member of the team developing a critically reflective framework for analysing the challenges students can face, and the mechanisms which support them through to success and completion of their qualifications.
A current research project with colleagues is investigating the strategies students find successful in learning te reo. Alongside this Mallory has started her Doctorate of Education with the University of Waikato in 2025.
