Toi Ohomai Sponsors Popular Multisport Festival

Encouraging active communities was a key driver for Toi Ohomai Institute to come on board as a sponsor for this year's Blue Lake Multisport Festival.
The 35th Blue Lake Multisport Festival was held on January 30 to 31 at the Blue Lake Reserve in Rotorua and was attended by 500 to 600 competitors from all over New Zealand.
This was the first time Toi Ohomai had been involved as sponsors, and the team were blown away by the success of their presence at the event.
Supporters flocked to the stunning Tikitapu for the long Auckland Anniversary Weekend to enjoy the big event, and it was not just for top athletes, people of all ages and abilities joined in, with some attempting their first triathlon or open water swim event.
The Blue Lake Multisport Festival has a family focus and has a relaxed, fun atmosphere, which is part of the reason Toi Ohomai joined the event as sponsors. The Institute has a role to play in supporting the community and our involvement in this event is linked to the Institute's values of Whanaungatanga and Manaakitanga.
Event organisers, Rotorua Association of Triathlon and Multisport (RATS) club, aim to make the events affordable and accessible to the widest possible audience and entry fees are kept to a very low rate comparable to other triathlon events in New Zealand.
Toi Ohomai sponsorship also included the Toi Ohomai King and Queen of the Lake series. This is awarded to the female and male winners with the best combined times over the GO Physio Aquathon; the Polynesian Spa 2 km Open Water Swim; and the Cyclezone Sprint Triathlon.
There are also Kids Triathlon events, which have sold-out over the past couple of years, seeing 150 children participating, accompanied by parents and family members to support them.
