School of Te Kura Māori, Pathways, Business and IT

Peter is a Principal Academic Staff Member teaching and supervising across the Master of Management and MAPS programmes.

He is based in Melbourne, where he and his wife relocated following her appointment to a senior local government leadership role in Victoria, and he continues to work closely with learners across Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally.

Outside work, Peter is an enthusiastic participant in Melbourne’s food markets, arts, and cultural life, which strongly reflects his professional roots and personal interests.

After a long and award-winning career in hospitality, tourism, and business leadership around the world, Peter moved into education later in life, a transition that surprised him and ultimately reshaped his professional direction.

Over the past decade he has worked across hospitality, tourism, business, and professional practice education, designing and leading programmes from Level 2 through to Level 9.

He has held national roles in large-scale qualification and curriculum development and brings a strong applied, industry-connected perspective to postgraduate teaching and supervision.

Peter holds a Master of Design Enterprise (design thinking) and is completing a Doctorate of Professional Practice focused on the future of human thinking in the age of AI.

His research and teaching interests include AI in education, work-integrated learning, professional identity, and how education can connect more meaningfully with learners in the places, contexts, and modes that work best for them.
