Course Overview
If you are already working in the commercial road transport industry and want to train for your Class 4 Truck Licence, this is the course for you.
You will learn safe driving skills and gain knowledge of vehicle dynamics so you can operate a heavy rigid motor vehicle, and meet the requirements for a NZ Transport Agency Class 4 Driver Licence.

Topics you'll cover
During the course you'll be required to:
- complete the pre-course study materials, which will be sent out to you
- complete up to 8 hours practical driver training including the Class 4 licence assessment
This course covers the following content which is applied in the context of a preparing to drive and driving a Class 4 vehicle:
- driver fatigue
- legislation requirements (Land Transport Rules)
- driver logbooks
- driving hazard identification and mitigation
- vehicle inspection
- driving and manoeuvring a rigid vehicle

Course Entry Information
Entry criteria
There are no minimum academic requirements (open entry), however you must hold:
- a NZTA Class 4 learner driver licence
Standard Entry Criteria
Admission, entry, selection, and enrolment into programmes will be in accordance with the Academic Regulations and/or, where approved, specific programme regulations.
English language requirements
Level 3 certificate IELTS General or Academic score of 5 with no band score lower than 5 or completed New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 3 with an endorsement of either General, Workplace or Academic, or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined by NZQA.
